Greg was raised in Knoxville Tennessee, where he received a full scholarship to play for the University of Tennessee. In 1988 he was drafted by the Cleveland Indians.  After playing 5 seasons in the minor leagues, Greg was called up to the big league for the Atlanta Braves in 1993. He spent 8 seasons in the major leagues with Braves, Mets, Dodgers, and A's.  He has played in 2 World Series and was runner up rookie of the year to Mike Piazza in 1993 and held the record for most consecutive saves by a rookie until 2005.

Since retiring in 2001, Greg has started two small businesses. Hardball Warehouse LLC, located in Duluth Georgia, is a private instructional facility; specializing in instruction for baseball, softball and strength training. Most recently, Spectacular Events, LLC was formed to meet the need for companies who are looking for a full service company to plan and execute their corporate picnic or team building event.

Greg lives in Atlanta with his wife and 5 kids.
